One week!

Well I have been here a week already! Crazy! I honestly feel like it’s been longer than that! And I’m already ready to come home, don’t get me wrong I love this place, it’s just not home and I miss everyone!

Last night Audrey and I went to meet Elizabeth and Victor at a restraint to listen to Jazz, well we got there and they never showed up, so we decided to find a place to eat and just set and chill. We ate at a place called coyote Canyon, it was supposed to be like American food, we just wanted something small and they had nachos on the menu, and they were delicious!  For lunch all the food is cheap and in the evening all the cheap places close and expensive ones open. For lunch we ate our first bratwurst, it was literally a foot long and was in a “bun” or piece of bread the size of a hamburger bun. It was really good; I will like it even more once I can figure out how to order kraut on it! J

This is a winery on the side of the hill like they have EVERYWHERE!

While we were shopping in and out of stores and looking around Audrey’s bag keeps going off in every place through the little detectors as you go out. It has happened everywhere and most people just say ok go on. But we went to a store that had cheap stuff and we needed laundry detergent and stuff like that. On our way out Audrey went off like always and this time they made her take it off and empty it and searched her. Poor girl, we still couldn’t figure out what is making it go off each time!

Today we did a TON of exploring and I am so shot today, especially my legs!!! I finally got the girls to get up at a decent time and we pretty much made a huge circle around the city. We started off by going to the ancient Roman Amphitheater just outside of town a mile. We walked of course, and it wasn’t as impressive as I was expecting, although it was beautiful and large. We were able to walk all around it, in it and under it. SO that was pretty cool from an architecture standpoint!

At the time it was used i held 20,000 people

So then we walked up the this thing near the city center called “The Cube” basically in the 1990s they started to try and build a parking garage and they stumbled upon these ancient Roman Baths. So they excavated it and preserved it and it is now a museum which has a Giant 5 story glass cube around it. This was built 100 AD by the Romans as their “Shower Houses” but not only that they were social events. People went in and they were able to make their rounds starting in the dressing room, to the first set of baths of cool water that was to get the first set of dirt off, then the next was warmer water that took more dirt off, then they were able to go to hot “Baths” they could take a personal one, a community or social bath, exercise baths, and a lap pool. After all of that there were 2 cool down pools before they went back to the dressing room. It’s crazy to think that 2,000 years ago they were able to build systems that heated and cooled water and filtered it at the same time!

From here we walked to our Building where we will be going to school for the next 4 months!! :) needed to find it so we had an idea of where we were going by next week! It’s not too far away, only like a 15 minute walk, and once we get our student ID’s tomorrow it will be a very simple bus ride if the weather is bad.

The first bullet point is the german version of "Interior Architecture"
It has a tall steeple that we can easily find walking around town so at least we wont get too lost to start with
this is the German version of Seaton. I will be taking all my classes here and pretty much living here

Then we took the long walk up the main College which is across the river. Technically Fachhochschule Trier has two campuses. One is right near the city center and the other is across the river, a long way away and we will be going to the close one. But tomorrow morning we have to go to orientation at the one across the river. So we walked there today and it was hell. The campus is right on top a HUGE hill and we all struggled to make it. But we did find the place, now we have to get up early and make the trip again tomorrow.
But the View from up on top of the hill overlooking the entire town was Breathtaking. It was just amazing and it made me so happy to see it all and how awesome it is! Anyone who comes to see me will defiantly be making that trip J

One of our roommates arrived a day ago. Her name is Cordy (that short for a name we can’t pronounce) she is really pretty, nice and shy. But from what I can tell maybe isn’t too thrilled about living with a bunch of Americans. So we will see, she has a large room and mostly stays to herself. The boy roommate should be here any day and his name is William
I did get the mail box all set up and all I have left to do is figure out where a post office is so I can mail some letters and postcards! J
