Mom and Dad Munich

So we hopped on the Plane in Italy and flew over the Alps and into Germany where we landed in a small town where we then had to catch another bus into Munich. This time it was a 2 hour bus but it was through the beautiful country side of Germany. Lots of Green grass and trees, and lots of farm ground!

When we got to Munich we met Kenra at the train station and we walked to the Hostel. I got the hostel in Munich because we had stayed in the same one but in Berlin and it was very nice. So we had a for bed room all to ourselves and it was pretty nice too. We got settled in and then hopped on the trolley to go to the city center where we were going to go eat at the most famous Bavarian pub. It was crowded and loud and I don’t think mom and dad enjoyed this place either.

It was the same place I went to before with Regina last time I was in Munich. This time we had a terrible (and I mean TERRIBLE) waiter. It took him forever to get to us and take our order and they half an hour later he came back and told dad his pork steak was no more, so dad ordered a sausage and potato salad. Then another half hour later he brought out dad’s food. But that was it, and then another half our later he brought out mom and mine and told Kenra her chicken was finished. So we waited for her to get her food but she never did. Finally she stopped the guy and asked him about it and he told here there was no more chicken. But he never asked her if she wanted anything else so she didn’t even get any food. She was mad and I don’t blame her, the guy was a total JERK!

After we walked around and went back to the hotel to go to bed. The next day we were up early and on the train heading to meet Cordy! We were going to get off at a small town almost in Austria where Cordy lived and she was going to pick us up by car and drive us to Berchtesgaden. This was where Hitler had his eagles nest and there was a beautiful lake. Mom and dad were happy to get to meet Cordy and it was so nice of her to take us all around by car!

Before they came over here to Europe, Dad was convinced that we could rent a car and driving all over Europe would be no big deal. But after this car adventure and after being in Rome and seeing all the traffic and how they drive dad changed his mind for sure! We would have been a mess trying to drive all over!!!! And it was interesting to see how Cordy drove, I just felt bad for dad who was in the back seat and was really car sick a couple of times!

Anyway we made it up to the town where we had to park and we got on the bus that took us up to where we had to take an elevator up to the actual Eagle’s nest! The view from up at the top here was AMAZING! We didn’t go into the nest of look at anything like that but we were so impressed with the gorgeous view of the Alps! We could see right over into Salzburg, Austria and even a beautiful lake or two! It was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After looking around here we went back down and Cordy drove us around to the King lake, it was really deep and so beautiful! We walked along and looked around and then found a cute little German restaurant that was so much better than the night before! Kenra had Bavarian chicken and fries, Cordy had deer meat and potatoes, Dad had traditional white sausage and a pretzel, mom had pork roast and a bread ball, and I had some kind of noodles with cream sauce and pork! It was all sooo good! Kenra then tried a dessert that was a yeast ball with a plum jam inside. It was really good too! This was a really cool place to eat too because in the background we could see the eagles nest high up on the hill!!!

Pretzels are a huge thing in Germany, especially in the Bavarian area. They are sold everywhere and are so delicious. They are much different than what we have in the states. Mom fell in love with these and had quite a few of them. I really like the ones with a layer of butter inside of them too! Germanys like real butter which is delicious!

After we ate we went back to the car and Cordy drove us to Salzburg, Austria. We parked and walked around all over the town. It’s a beautiful little place with a nice castle on the hill and nice shops with a river through town. It was a nice peaceful walk and mom and dad got to go into Austria!

Cordy then took us back to the train station and we had a tearful good bye. Hopefully we will see her again soon! Kenra is going to invite her to her wedding next summer and Cordy said she would like to come to American and see us! I hope she can sometime!!!

We slept nicely that night and were up early again to catch the bus to the airport. This time our flight to London was delayed an hour but eventually we made it to LONDON!

Overall I think we had a great time in Munich, it was very tradition German and getting to see the Alps and walk in the mountain area was a nice change to the City!!!
