Mom and Dad in Rome

So we were super exhausted and I felt so bad for them, but we only got 4 hours of sleep that first night then we were up and had a 4 mile walk with our backpacks to the bus stop. To me a 4 mile walk is nothing. We wall that and lots more every day and it was hard for me to realize that to them it was a LONG way and a pain with backpacks. I was used to all that. But we walked up to Nells-Park bus stop and got on our hour long ride to Frankfurt Hahn Airport to catch the flight to Rome, Italy.

We got to see quite a bit out the windows during the flight. The mountains and the cost of Italy, it was beautiful! It was a short flight, only an hour and a half and we were in Rome by 9 am. We had to take another hour long bus from the airport to the main city center area where we walked strait to the hotel.
It was a pain to find this hotel, we walked and missed it the first time we walked then when we turned around we found it. I was a little nervous because the area of town we were in looked really sketchy, I was very worried. But we found the place and walked in, they said that there was an issue with the room we were supposed to have so a neighboring hotel was going to put us up for the night, and by this time I was not happy and even more worried. They main guy came and got us and led us to the hotel, he was very nice and friendly but I couldn’t tell how I felt about him. He told us the room wouldn’t be ready till 1 and it was only 9, but we could leave our bags in the lobby of the hotel. This I did not like, to just leave our bags sit there, I tried to get mom and dad to say we would just take them with us and then we would find a different hotel because I still did not feel so great about this place. He told us, “oh just leave your bags, I don’t need anything out of them!” so he handed us our room key, told us to be back by 1 and we left our bags and went out to explore.

We had decided to take the hop on hop off busses in Rome so we could cover more ground and see everything we wanted to see. So we got on and took it around, the first place we got to see was the Colosseum, but we didn’t stop we just drove by it, then we drove all over and looked at the ruins and other famous places.

We decided to get off at the Vatican and see if we can we could go in to the Museums, mom wanted to see the Sistine chapel, but it was a Sunday and they were closed but we were able to look around the square and go inside St. Peters Basilica, which is one of my favorites in Europe. Mom and dad really liked that and also getting to see the Swiss guards and their funny uniforms J

It was just super-hot in Rome and we were kind of miserable. Every time we got on the bus mom and dad would fall asleep, and I did occasionally but we were SOOO tired.

We rode around a bit more and got off at a stop and then walked to the Trevi Fountain, which is probably my most favorite in Rome, but I don’t think mom and dad wasn’t as impressed with it as I was. Then we walked around and windowed shopped and got some good Italian Gelato!!! J

Finally we got on the bus again and rode it around to the Colosseum and we decided to get off and go inside of it because I hadn’t done that the first time I was there and Dad wanted to. So we did and It was super cool! The outside is amazing and incredible but the inside is even more so! We couldn’t believe all the work and the detailing that went into the  building of this building and how long it must have taken. It truly is an amazing building! We learned a lot inside and looked all around, I had gotten a headset that talked about It and relayed all the info to mom and dad.

It was easy to say that was our most favorite thing we saw and did in Rome. After we got out of there we walked over to this cute little place and had dinner. A pizza, a salad, and a calzone, it was all ok food, im never too impressed with anything Italian. But it was really cool to sit and eat dinner with the Colosseum looming right beside us, we sat and talked a lot about what things would have been like back in the days when it was built and actually used for fighting. Dad was really fascinated and really enjoyed seeing this! J
We were so tired and it was only 7pm but we decided to head back to the hotel and hope that we had a room and all of our bags still! We got back to the hotel and I had the room key so we went straight there to the room and I we found it occupied by someone else. I was now very upset and worried, but we went down to the desk and our bags were gone. The nice guy told us he moved our room and it was now a different one and he had put our bags in there already for us.

As it turns out the room was really nice, it was the best one we ended up staying in the entire time in Europe with my parents! It had a nice shower and was very clean and had an excellent air conditioner, which is very rare in Europe!

Dad showed and was going to shave after mom and I got done in the shower, but he was snoring away before one of us even got done! Lol so we were all dead to the world about 7:45 and we slept till 9 when we got up and went to the bus stop to go back to the airport to Fly to Munich, Germany!

Over all Italy was a big waste of time. The first time I went back in April I enjoyed getting to see the historic places and famous landmarks but I hate the Italian people, I hate their way of life and the food Sucks! So I wish I would have skipped Italy with my parents, they really didn’t enjoy it that much either I don’t think!
